Rachel Skarsten has been cast as the lead villain opposite Ruby Rose in the CW’s Batwoman pilot from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Directed by David Nutter and written by Caroline Dries, Batwoman is the first live-action superhero series with a gay lead character. With a passion for justice and a knack for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) hits the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, a highly-trained street fighter ready to snuff out the city’s criminal underworld.

Skarsten will play Alice, leader of a Lewis Carroll-inspired Wonderland Gang. If Batwoman had a Joker, it would be Alice, who swings unpredictably between charm and mania, as she endeavours to rob Gotham of its sense of safety.

It’s possible that this Alice may well be the same character from the comics (pictured above alongside Skarsten) which is actually revealed to be Kate’s long-lost presumed-dead sister, which could make for an interesting dynamic in the show, and a shocking reveal for those unfamiliar with the comics.
