It seems that Season 2 of DC Universe series, Titans, may well feature an iconic DC Comics villain.
While it has already been said that the second season of the show will see the arrival of Slade Wilson and his daughter Rose (a.k.a. Deathstroke and Ravager), a new casting breakdown suggests that Superman foe Lex Luthor might also be on his way.
According to GWW, the show’s latest casting breakdown calls for a “man of any ethnicity, age of 30-39, for the recurring role” of “Dax.”
The description of Dax reads:
“Mercurial and unpredictable, Dax delights in the element of surprise. Awkward and unpopular as a young boy, he insulated himself from others and developed masterful skills of manipulation. This led to a successful career as a criminal, where he had a unique ability to catch the enemy off-guard with his unassuming nature. Having spent many years in prison for his crimes, Dax is thrilled by the opportunity to get back to work and create chaos for his foes.”
This article imagines that “Dax” is simply a code name, which is common for breakdowns – especially ones dealing with well-known characters. We have to admit, the description does bear a striking resemblance to Luthor’s characterization.
Lex Luthor joining the show at this point would make sense, given that Superboy/Conner Kent and Cadmus both appeared in the post-credits scenes of the Season 1 finale. In the comics, Superboy was a clone created from the DNA of Superman and Lex Luthor following the Man of Steel’s death.
This isn’t a confirmation that Luthor will appear, however executive producer Geoff Johns did confirm during SDCC last year that the character would eventually join the series – so why not in Season 2?
Filming for Season 2 of Titans is rumoured to begin this month, so we’ll have to wait and see whether the infamous DC villain will make his debut.
